We dedicate this album to Penn Cove and its historic town. Coupeville, one of Washington’s oldest towns, sits along Penn Cove on Whidbey Island, a region rich in maritime history. Originally home to the Lower Skagit Coast Salish people, it was later settled in 1852 by Captain Thomas Coupe, after whom the town was named. Its historic wharf, built in 1905, remains one of the oldest working wharves in the Pacific Northwest. Coupeville is central to Ebey’s Landing National Historical Reserve, preserving its 19th-century charm. The town celebrates its maritime roots through events like the Penn Cove Water Festival, honoring Native traditions and the enduring legacy of the sea.
